Severe Tooth Wear Corrected With Crowns
This patient's teeth have been destroyed by grinding his teeth together. This condition called bruxism tends to be done at night in one's sleep, however, it can also be done during the day as an outlet for stress or sometimes by habit. Once the grinding has worn away the hard enamel coating, it leaves the much softer dentin exposed. At this point, the damage accelerates many times to the point where teeth cannot be restored. Luckily for this patient, the condition was caught before the damage became too much to fix. The only solution to repair this problem is to cover the teeth with porcelain crowns (caps). This not only improves his smile immensely but and also will protect the teeth from further wear.Click Image to Expand
Severe Erosion Corrected With Crowns
The back of this patient\'s front teeth were eroded away probably from stomach acid. This much damage leaves only the brittle enamel on the edges making them very susceptible to chipping. The only solution to repair this problem is with full coverage with porcelain crowns (caps). This improves her smile immensely and will protect the teeth from further erosion.Click Image to Expand
Porcelain Laminate Veneers And Bridgework
This is a case that combines porcelain laminates and bridgework. This patient was congenitally missing her upper canines (eye teeth). The baby teeth that were in that place finally got to a point that they could not be maintained. Therefore, the baby canines were removed. The usual choices to replace these teeth would be implants or bridges. Since the lateral incisors (the teeth next to the front teeth) already had large fillings, it was decided to place bridges.A bridge is constructed by placing crowns (or caps) on the teeth on either side of the open space, then, suspending an artificial tooth across the gap.To finish up her smile, we placed porcelain laminates on the two front teeth. Getting the colors just right can be a very technically demanding feat due to the different thicknesses and backgrounds, but, as you can see, we got spectacular results.Click Image to Expand
Replacement Of Missing Teeth With Fixed Bridges
Crowns (caps) are placed on the teeth on either side of the space, then an artificial tooth is suspended across the gap. About 1 mm of tooth enamel must be removed to make room for the porcelain, but a bridge is extremely durable and long-lasting.Click Image to Expand
Comprehensive Dentistry
Not only did this patient have a cavity problem, but he also grinds his teeth at night causing an extreme amount of wear. A previous dentist had tried to place a couple of crowns (caps), but the end result was two very short, unappealing teeth. We opened the patients bite with a mouthpiece and erupted the back teeth with orthodontic rubber bands. This provided enough space to construct teeth with the proper length. And what an awesome result!Click Image to Expand
Implants And Fixed Bridgework
This patient had worn a complete set of dentures for over thirty years. Because of this, he was no longer able to wear a lower denture due to a normal atrophy, or withering away, of his lower gum ridge. We placed four endosseous implants into his jawbone and allowed bone to form around them for six months. Then, a set of lower teeth was constructed and was fastened to the implants with screws. This patients original request was to be able to eat peanuts, something that most of us with teeth take for granted. Now, this happy fellow can eat all of the peanuts that his heart desires.Click Image to Expand
Replacement Of Missing Teeth With Implants
This patient opted to have his missing teeth replaced with implants. Root form cylinders of titanium were surgically placed by Dr. Forest Butler. Titanium attachments were then placed and a porcelain and metal bridge was screwed into place. This way, the patient did not have a plate covering the roof of his mouth which affects speech and taste. This case was very difficult due to the underbite and over closed mouth, but the cosmetic results were fantastic.Click Image to Expand
Orthodontics And Fixed Bridgework
This patient is congenitally missing his lateral incisors, that is, he was born without the two teeth that are normally located next to the front teeth. Through the use of orthodontic appliances, we brought the canines (eye teeth) back and closed the gap between the front teeth to make enough room for artificial teeth. Then, bridgework was prepared and cemented in permanently.Click Image to Expand
