Severe Tooth Wear Corrected With Crowns
This patient\'s teeth have been destroyed by grinding his teeth together. This condition called bruxism tends to be done at night in one\'s sleep, however, it can also be done during the day as an outlet for stress or sometimes by habit. Once the grinding has worn away the hard enamel coating, it leaves the much softer dentin exposed. At this point, the damage accelerates many times to the point where teeth cannot be restored. Luckily for this patient, the condition was caught before the damage became too much to fix. The only solution to repair this problem is to cover the teeth with porcelain crowns (caps). This not only improves his smile immensely but and also will protect the teeth from further wear.
