Cosmetic Bleaching dentist in Lilburn GA, Dr. Richard P. Gangwisch, DDS, MAGD, ABGD, performs cosmetic bleaching on an actual patient
We're here today with Kaylee. And Kaylee, what brought you into the office today?
Just trying to get my teeth whiter so I want to get them please.
Well, she's got a pretty smile already but yeah I get them a little bit brighter would be nice. I think that we can go ahead and do a nice bleaching job. Now what we'll do is we'll do an at-home bleaching so it’ll be nice and gentle for her and it'll slowly over a few weeks, it'll start to look I would say nothing short of spectacular. How's that sound?
That would be perfect.
All right. Okay. Let's get started. We start the process by making a mold of the teeth and that way we can make a tray for that it'll be custom fit. It was a material called alginate that will make the mold. It's pleasant-tasting and fairly fast setting. And we pour a plaster mixture into that and this is what we're going to use to make a model so we can make the custom tray for the patient. And here's the model and the tray which is the clear plastic that's on there is what the patient will put the bleaching gel in. You notice the edges are contoured around the gums. That way, the bleach won't sit on the gums and irritate the gums. It's very flexible. You notice how extremely thin that is so it’ll be very comfortable for the patient to wear.
Hi Kaylie. I'm Roxann and I'm going to show you how to use your bleach trays. If you want to go ahead and try that in. I'm gonna take a look. Looks great. How does it feel? Okay? Take that out. These are your syringes. These four syringes should last you two weeks for your upper arch. What you'll do is you'll take that little top off. You're gonna put a little line in each tooth from canine to canine in the front six. We don't bleach the back because shade is darker and nobody sees them, so the front six canine to canine. Once you put a little line of gel in each tooth, you're gonna fit it in. Squish the gel up evenly over the teeth so that it's not sitting down here at the bottom. If you get excess, you're just going to take your finger and wipe it off. Okay, then you're gonna sleep in them. When you get up in the morning, you're gonna take it out and brush your teeth like normal. Brush your tray out with you know your toothpaste and water. Don't use warm water or hot water or mouthwash because the tray will melt. Okay, if you find you're having sensitivity, stop for one night and then start back the next night. And I have a tube of Sensodyne you can use that in between.
All right, Kayla. I guess we've got the big day here where you get to try your trays in. How do they feel. Is anything poking at all or anything like that. Okay. Feel comfortable? Pretty thin, aren't they?
Let's take a look here and see. Oh wow. Yeah, those are looking good. All right. What we're gonna do is we're gonna let you bleach your teeth on the upper only and then we'll go ahead and check you in a couple weeks. I guess you see that you get to sleep with them in, right okay and should be pretty easy. Could be a little bit of sensitivity you may have with the teeth. Hopefully not, otherwise, I think you'll be in good shape there. Are you excited? Alright, here you can see the transition going from dark to light. That happened over just the course of a few weeks and ends up with a brilliant smile. We didn't have to pick up a drill and we could do that for minimal cost and makes for a very happy patient.
