In
this case, the patient is missing too many teeth to place fixed
bridgework. The patient also rejected the idea of implants due to
financial reasons. Therefore, the only solution is to construct a set
of removable partial dentures. They are not as natural feeling as fixed
replacements since they rely on the gums for their support and they must
be taken out at night while sleeping to give the gums a rest. However,
they are much better than having all of the teeth removed and going with
a complete denture. At least in this case, there are some teeth to help
stabilize the denture and keep it from flopping around in the mouth. |
