Bonding To Create A Winning Smile
This patient is congenitally missing her left lateral incisor, that is, she was born without a tooth that would normally be located next to the front teeth. Since the tooth was missing, the canine tooth (eye tooth) filled up the space. The recommended course of treatment was to orthodontically open up a space for the lateral incisor and place an implant, however, the patient rejected the idea of braces. In the bonding technique, by layering the material that is normally used for filling front cavities over the surface of the teeth, we were able to drastically alter the appearance of her teeth. The pointed canine was made to look like an incisor (front tooth). We carefully dimensioned and spaced these to give a beautiful, natural smile.
